"Gotten" lyrics Slash and Adam Levine
Slash said “It was a piece of music I couldn’t let go of. I finally got to the point where I had a complete arrangement and had written string parts on keyboard and recorded a demo. Even the engineer who I was doing the demos with was sick of hearing that song!
"I thought Adam wasn’t going to be sure about it. But I went to his house and he actually liked it a lot and he wrote the perfect vocal for it. He sings like an angel on it, and it doesn’t sound like Maroon 5 but you can tell it’s his voice. I think people will really appreciate the way it sounds.”
Gotten Lyrics with Slash and that guy everyone hates from Maroon 5
So nice to see your face again
Tell me how long has it been
Since you’ve been here
(since you’ve been here)
You look so different than before
You’re still the person I adore
Frozen with fear
All out of love but I take it from the past
All out of words cause I’m sure it’ll never last
I’ve been saving these last words for one last miracle
But now I’m not sure
I can’t save you if you don’t let me
You just get me like I’ve never been gotten before
Maybe it’s a bitter wind
That chilled from the pacific rim
That brought you this way
(brought you my way)
Do not make me think of him
The way he touched your fragile skin
That haunts me every day
I’m out of love but I can’t forget the past
I’m out of words but I’m sure it’ll never last
I’ve been saving these last words for one last miracle
But now I’m not sure
I can’t save you if you don’t let me
You just get me like I’ve never been gotten before
Like I’ve never been gotten before
Slash Solo
So nice to see your face again
But tell me will this ever end
Don’t disappear
I’ve been saving these last words for one last miracle
But now I’m not sure
And I can’t save you if you don’t let me
You just get me like I’ve never been gotten before
Like I’ve never been gotten before

althought a lot of people think that song has nothing to do with the album i truly think it's a masterpiece
ReplyDeleteI've just listened to it, as it's one of the songs I don't mind hearing early (am in the U.K., get the album on the 7th :P :D)
ReplyDeleteAs much as I wanted to hate it, cause of the choice of singer, I like it a lot. Sure it may not be "Slash" as you'd expect, but that doesn't make it any worse, just different, I can see this album getting bad reviews for 2 reasons.
1) People can't get over their idea of Slash should always sound the same - It's his solo album, let him do what he wants.
2) It doesn't flow, as it is possibly a album of singles (as in each has a very different sound - I have only heard 3 songs off it, and 1 live) but I will love it either way :D
lover every bit of the album SLASH it is after all :D \m/
ReplyDeleteI hate slash and dont like maroon 5 but this song is GREAT. great vocals , great lyrics , great arrangments . . altamente recomendable
ReplyDeleteI JUST CAN´T BELIVE IT!! THIS ALBUM IS EXCELENT!!
ReplyDeleteNOW I O A FAVOR TO A FRIEND WHO GAVE IT TO ME!!

PUNTA ALTA. BS AS. ARGENTINA
That guy has a very unique voice, very reconigsable. But I don't think it was the right choice for this album. It is too soft for it. The guy's voice is too soft.
ReplyDeleteI love both Slash and Maroon 5...this is a great, emotional song with class and a slight Micheal Buble-esque theme...with awesome guitar-playin.
ReplyDeleteI like all the songs on the album, there's been a couple of negative reviews on the album here in OZ but they're only (toddlers)they weren't even born in other words. Some albums take more than one listen.
ReplyDeleteCan't stand this guy, but I would still have to say he was an excellent choice for this song.
ReplyDeleteI think the great thing with this album is the fact that all songs seem to fit the particular singers perfectly: Promise is made for Chris Cornell and the completely different Doctor Alibi has got Lemmy Kilmeister written all over it. And while every song is completely different they're all typically Slash! It doesn't work all the time: the Ian Astbury and Iggy Pop songs for instance aren't really exiting, but Fergie, Chris Cornell and M. Shadows are featured really good and Adam Levine in particular is a nice surprise. But the real star for me is Myles Kennedy! The refrain in Starlight is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis album was awesome. I loved every song. I thought it was pretty cool how slash worked with popular artist such as M. Shadow, Adam Levine and miles Kennedy, etc, etc. But the album is the best. I love it. \m/,
ReplyDeletethe guitar and flow is excellent. that little guitar background giving such a ballad nuance. but the rhytm guitar on solo shouldn't be there.
ReplyDeletethat's my opinion. :D
but at the end, i still like this song very much!
great work of slash and adam!!
freaking brilliant song.
ReplyDeleteprops to both of them, they're amazing.
One of my top 3 songs from the album, it is just perfect for a night with your EX! hahaha Don't ask me why I'm laughing =D
ReplyDeletethis is a great song...one of my faves! Slash is the shit and def. like the songs with myles kennedy better but Adam will do for this song..
ReplyDeletei just can't believe this album...so damn good..one of the best albums you'll ever come across ever!!..since you get so much different stuff to listen to...every song has a different feel, voice, theme to it..nothing similar...i loved this thing.....SLASH ( / ) for life LOL :P
ReplyDeleteI Love U All
ReplyDeletei'm from some village in Indonesia...
real good cd. gotten is the best song on it. adam levine is a great singer. slash is an amazing guitarist. only song that is trash on this cd is ozzy's. not cause he is the singer...the song is just boring.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe I finally got to listen to the man, the only one - SLASH. He's an amazing guitarist. Love the album. Gotten is my fav - not typical Slash but talent nonetheless as always by singer and guitarist. Looking forward to more!
